So alongside it being free there are some other great reasons to list with us:

  1. There are NO restrictions – list & advertise anywhere else you like
  2. We don’t get involved with payments so no holding on to YOUR money till guests check in.  Transactions are totally between you and your guests and YOU are in control.

  5. YOU set YOUR prices
  6. YOU create your listing – we just check it over before it’s published (and I don’t guarantee to find every spelling mistake)
 

What We Add 

  1. We’re free – yes I said it again. Free to list and no fees to guests.
  2. Whilst we’re free (I may have mentioned that already) we’re grateful for any donations.  10% of the profit from Ditch Your OTA  is used to maintain this site and also to advertise to potential guests.  ALL donations go into the advertising pot.  The direct booking message can only get out there if it’s pushed.
  3. As you may have gathered we’re passionate about direct booking, cutting out the middle man and benefitting both hosts and guests.
  4. You get more direct bookings.
  5. I’m always about if you need any technical advice (ok so maybe that belongs in tech)

 

The Tech Stuff

With over 25 years IT experience you can rest assured that the technical side of things is well covered – and here are a few technical reasons why listing with us is great from a technical point of view:
  1. Backlinks!!  By listing here your website will gain backlinks.  It just means that this website links to yours (via the url link).  The more relevant backlinks a website has the more attractive it is to google web crawlers that wander from site to site via the links.
  2. Relevance.  Because this site is about the same topic as yours (holiday letting) the backlinks are seen as relevant – more SEO points!!
  3. This website will be constantly updated and maintained.  We are registered on google search console and have all the components necessary to ensure that google finds us. So every time we make a change we get crawled and indexed – and that increases the likelihood that you will too (via the link)
  4. Hopefully we’ve made it super simple to register and add your properties (and feedback is always welcome)
  5. We connect to your calendar via ical (so that potential guests can view your availability)
  6. We protect all your data – our webforms are protected with reCaptcha and we run regular malware scans.

Ready To List? - We have a few pre-requisites

In order to ensure that we only promote direct booking with owners we have a few requirements to qualify for listing:

  1. You MUST have a website or established facebook page we need to link to this to send guests your way!
  2. For those with only facebook pages we may need to ask you for additioal proof of ownership/business prior to publishing your listing.  This is not only so that guests have confidence they are dealing with real businesses but also to protect the reputation of ALL owners using the system.
  3. Ideally your website will include on line booking/enquires to booking system/PMS that is iCal enabled.  This is so we can display availability to potential guests
  4. Your URL will not be accepted if your booking links end up at an OTA system like Sykes or Airbnb etc. 
  5. Your images must be compressed.  We allow 12 images for your gallery, a thumbnail image for social media and google & a feature image.  You don’t need high resolution images for a website and large images will slow the website down.  You can compress up to 20 images for free at www.tinypng.com. Ideally images should be 1.5 x wider than their height e.g. 1200 pixels wide and 800 pixels high.  This is especially true for the banner image.
  6. By uploading images you are acknowledging that they are free of copyright restrictions and you have the authority to use them.
